So did you go to art school? Film school? Writer's workshop?
I chose to study film (at Syracuse University) because it's a discipline which encompasses writing, the visual arts and music/sound design. The film program was part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

That doesn't sound very commercial.
I'm getting to that. I picked up my knack for "concepting," copywriting and design in the working world. Being able to both visualize and verbalize has been handy.

Where in the working world?
Since art-directing the Daily Orange at SU (where I learned AP style!), I've written, designed and shot video for various Richmond firms (including the Circuit City Stores in-house agency) and worked in the Los Angeles entertainment industry designing posters and metro signs, and also producing and editing.

Ooh! Did you rub elbows with anyone famous?
I try to stay away from people's elbows.

So are you for hire outside the Roanoke area?

Sure! I work with clients and vendors all over the world. I'm at home with FTP, VPN and any other way to connect in the electronic age.

Great! Now what?
That's up to you. Go to the irrelevant questions page. Or contact me!
